PB -
I see where you visited our website and clicked on the link, bringing me here! I was so surprised to see our website listed here on your site! And at the top of the list, too! Woohoo!!!

Thanks for listing us! I certainly have not tweaked anything within the theme to make it more unique, since I know absolutely nothing about php coding! But we are happy with the theme and what we've been able to do with it. Our site is different from other rubber stamping magazines out there, and that's what we were shooting for!

Thanks again!

No worries mate, my attitude towards this freebee thing is that you do whatever and whenever you want to or don't want to.
It was only that you started really enthusiastic and then suddenly it looked like it was going to die a slow death since you stopped giving updates or answers. :)

@ Robin: Today Americans celebrate their independence from England. It's a national holiday so I went to hte beach with my family...

As for the tweaks... I'm still going about it as planned. Frankly though, all the repeated delays and my little mis-direction on the design, has me way behind. Family, then work, then freebies. It's the food chain of my life. I'll send you a little light very soon. Thanks for the patience!

PB, can you shine a bit of light in the darkness? If you don't have the time for this project or if you decided to not continue with it, I understand and I'm sure the other possible "winners" of your tweak a week contest would as well.

Just curious (actually not, I just can't wait to see what you have been cooking) but can you give us (especially me:)) a peek of the masterpiece re-design that awaits to rule the world?

Well actually the structure of my site is pretty straightforward, the frontpage slide features some of my packages and the excerpt says something about each package. If you click on that slideshow it then takes you to the page with all the info of that package. I did put the main focus on that slideshow because that's the first thing my clients will see and it highlights what I offer.

Also on the front page the blue navigation buttons on the left side with names videopakket 1, videopakket 2 (with the prices) and so on all are links to my packages.

On the right side of the slideshow you have the news (nieuws) section which display special discounts on pacakages or important news related to my packages or just anything I consider important enough for my clients to see.

then ofcourse the carousel which displays all photo events and just below that I removed the category pages that were originally incorporated and placed one video which is always my latest video I have done.

On the right side of the video it's also image links to some packages or services I offer or it could be an advertisment.

In the lower left corner of the footer section the small video is a promovideo of the "chatbox" I rent out (it's an unmanned camera with a mic and people can speak their wishes in it, very popular around these area's :)

The rest of the footersection displays my last blogpost and comments

On top of the site there is then the tab "video" and "photo" which each lead to the demo's of our photo's and video's (duh)

and the "blog" tab goes to the.... :)

That's actually it

And on the posts in the blog or on the pages were I display my packages I reserve the left side for advertisement.

That's actually it, but to me it looks like you really need to get some sleep, was it 3 at night when you wrote this? (never understood what am or pm actually stood for) Here it's now 10:40 in the morning.

@ Robin: Well sir, you've really helped out so thank you. I see that I've got my work cut out for me, but I'll get there you watch!

I think one of the most difficult parts of the whole things is the language barrier... I can't read your blog so I'm not sure where things are and in what order... for example... in your slideshow gallery it looks like it's displaying your customer packages... however, I'm not sure what the "excerpt" next to it says or if it has anything to do with you products... does that make sense?

So here is what I propose... I'll work something up using the hints you've given me. I'll design it to display materials that I feel are in the best use of design practice... if you like it, great! If you still don't think it's for you, no problem.

Initially, I had something really neat going. But because my server was spastic, and the images were not displaying, I switched concepts mid design.

When I started reading all of your requests in the past few comments I started to realize I was losing my focus and the overall point of the giveaway. I need to stay focused on the goal... standard design practices! I've got to design it the way I see fit. From there, it's all yours! So, let me work on it a bit more, and I'll put up yet another live demo for the world to see... then after we both get some community feedback, we can make some decisions from there.

Well, I do like real life, clean and modern sites with some gradients en textures ans preferably vintage touches. :D

Seriously, actually real life has the most appeal, I do like very clean modern sites as well because they put all attention to your content.
Some sites I like in terms of design:

http://www.hebatec.de/

and one of the coolest looking sites out there:
http://veerle.duoh.com/

So, when I get to think about it, real life designs like the one you did had a unique touch to it, like looking into the life of the owner with his photo's, dvd's, his notebook, ipod, mobilephone or whatever lying around and not to forget, the cup of coffee. :)

But then again, I also really liked the first mock up I accidently saw some days ago that you did were you removed the sites vertical boundaries on the top part of the site.

What exactly is vintage, do you have an example site?

Perfect... one last question. I took a look at the example sites you liked and noticed that the one thing in common with them was the simplicity of the design. What style do you picture for yourself.

Real life (the one I just did)
Clean and modern
Gradients and textures
Vintage

Those are just a few to choose from, but a solid direction might help me get back on track as well.
