Making Money Online all ZEN like

Business, Fun Stuff, Personal

Well people it’s about that time of the month again. As TheAffiliatePost has dubbed it… PB Syndrome is in full effect, but this time, you’re convincing is not needed… there is light at the end of the tunnel! As many of you may have noticed, posting as well as commenting has been a bit slow for me over the last week and a half. I’ve had tons of things going on the outside of the internet world that have been finally cleared up and I’m ready to dig in yet again… PB writes again!

It’s Time to Make Money Online

This evil little phrase haunts almost every blogger at one point or another and sometimes more often that we care to admit… even those of us who say we’re bloggin’ just for the hell of it. Making money Online is the proverbial dangling carrot. The national treasure of sorts. We all want to make money and when we see folks around us pushing to get their share… it sends a little jealous streak down some of our spines. I know it does for me, and since I’m not the only one who enjoys making money, I know it does for some others too.

Maintaining our Focus

We’ve all got to maintain focus. Focus on our goals. If those goals are to simply blog for self gratification, great! If it’s to make money online, great! If it’s to create videos… or teach people how to become better at what they do at their jobs, or how to lose weight… the subject matters none. It’s all about setting and achieving our goals. I personally, have failed miserably at goal setting, and have become quite the master at goal breaking. Time for a change people and I’m the first in line to do all out do it.

Cleaning House

I own more domain names than I care to think about with some costing me as little a 5.00 and some costing as much as a few thousand dollars… I’ve built or helped build nearly 600 websites in my time as a designer, and I have yet to complete a project of my own. Is it natural? Is this constant flow of negative energy good for all that Zen? I don’t think so. That said, as part of my mide year resolution, and part of my new outlook on my online business ventures, I’ve got to clean house a little bit. I’ll be selling off some of my totally awesome domains, building up my existing online businesses, and settling in on a few well appointed attempts to get my online life in order.

What’s the point in all of this?

Good question. I’d like to know from each of you, what your goals are. No… I’m not looking for some generic answer like make money… or become rich… of course everyone wants that. I want a list people… the famous list post. I challenge each of you to set your goals… post them online and let the world help you stick to your guns. Here are a few of mine:

Sell off old domains I no longer use.

Finish Building Blogg Fluff or turn it over to someone who can work it like it should.

Complete a project in which has been long time coming.

Start my online T-Shirt Store

Re-Organize Piss Biscuit

Earn 2,500 dollars a month online

Finish and promote VGA (My Latest Venture)

Create an online portfolio of my work

Build a homebase site for my freelance design services

So what do you all think? Sounds like a pretty solid to do list, but everything on it has been buggin me FOREVER! DO you guys and gals see anythign that I may have missed? Ohhh wait…

Take PB to the next level in monetization

Anyway, this is just a start, so thanks for all the input. Thanks for all the help. And most importnatly, thanks for helping me stay on track. I’ve met some great people here and I have a great appreciation for each and every one of you.

    Aaaaaaaaaaah shhhhhhhhniiiiiiiiizaaaaap! He’s back! Great!

I agree with ya man, everything you said, focus, cleaning house, pursuing what you do, finishing projects…all stuff I agree with.

    So, my goals…shorterm are:

Establish my blog as a mainstay among casual and not so casual readers, and make it a great community

    Earn $5000/month online

Launch the new interview blog and get it ROCKING so the advertisers come KNOCKIN :)

continue to make videos that people like, possibly start monetizing them by letting people actually sponsor it….though…griddle cakes will still be in the mix

get some things cleaned up as far as hosting and other stuff….

    yeah..boyeeeeee, the Pisser is back!

@ Joe: I’m full of Piss N’ Vinegar now so watch out! I love the short term goal idea… it’s better than long term goals that’s for sure. Long term goals as great short term excuses.

Your blog is well on it’s way to being a mainstay… you’re doing great! I love the videos and the Flip Mino thing you got was the best free investment you could have ever made. It’s all part of my morning cup of Joe.

$5,000 G’s holy cow… I wish I could set that as a goal. I’m not to far of from mine with one project I’ve got… but ideally, I’d like to get all my projects at the 2,500 mark before exapanding even more. Lets get ready to rumble!

Lol! The Piss Biscuit takes on Zen Habits! :)

Well, I tried doing a bit of goal setting myself and it all went a bit wrong…. (as people who read the blog in my signature will know incidentally).

But anyway, for what it’s worth, here are the goals I have to achieve or else basically I’m wasting my time:

Make a decision whether to give up mainstream and go back full time to adult where the bulk of my money is made.

But if I choose not to do that….

Sort out which one of my two main ‘flagship’ blogs is to be the one I concentrate on (the one in my signature which I set up originally just as a tryout is actually doing pretty well for visitors, but not monetised properly yet).

Build a large website with blog, forum, articles, paid advertising, and a large community with a membership area (got the domain, just haven’t got around to completely the beginning stages).

Organise my freelance writing work (I write content for websites) into a less incoherent state.

Increase my regular income to over $5,000 per month (this is a necessity – the dollar converts like crap against the euro).

Build a full membership site to sell (this is longer term – 18 months or so).

Oh yeah, and do all this alongside keeping my adult blogs and sites ticking over nicely.

Think that’s all for now :)

@PB thanks for the encouragement man. Honestly, I’m far from my goal, that’s just a static goal I have, of course I have small flag poles towards it…but that would be a major accomplishment towards my very first goal of online income.

Basically, that will allow me to tell my wife she no longer has to go to work if she doesn’t want to….my goal is to get her out of the workforce before myself. 5gizzzys a month would actually be more than I make at my regular job, so, it’s more than enough to do what I wish….

I will be shooting for similar goals as you moving from $1000 to $2000 on up and up….but, that $5000 is my magic number.

Glad people are diggin the site man…I just want to make sure I keep providing quality.

Coolio! Nice to see you back. It’s not easy updating multiple blogs. I try, and fail miserably.

That’s why many of my current goals include, selling off many of my properties. I think (for me) it will be total ZEN. Because it will be like a major monkey off my shoulder.

I want a clean slate, and a do over. Not easy, but im working on it.

I do like idea of flipping websites, but i dont know how to transfer a site to someone, so back to square one. Outsourcing is a bitch! But it rocks for now. I shouldn’t complain.

You have alot going on, which probably means you’re brilliant. Haha, im just self-referring now. Never mind me.

I like many of your ideas, good stuff. Keep at it, as i stated before on a previous comment, “You’re money!”.

My goals: I will write a post on it.

@ Zania: I’ll tell you what… aside from Bryan and the mystery that he is… you’re next on my list of amazing people to figure out. How you manage all of those online businesses without cooking your eyeballs or yanking out handfuls of hair on a daily basis escapes me.

You seem to have TONS of sites and TONS of work to get those sites where they need to be to start earning. That said… My gosh either you type super fast, or you’ve got a horde of helpers you’re not telling anyone about. Yeh, it’s time to get all Zen with my online ventures that’s for sure.

@ Joe: You’ve got some gravy goals there and I’m sure you can do it. It’s all in little manageable bite sized steps. Before you know it BAM! You’re there.

@ Missy: No failure explanations need here. I’ve got so many racked up it’s simply ridiculous. PB is my first blog that really has taken off, and though I’ve got a handful of other profitable ventures, the failures sure as heck outrank them. Live and you learn I guess.

It’s all down to automation and a little bit of help on the side :)
